Emulsion
Transfer
Demo
Below are some photos from a 12-piece Emulsion Transfer
piece called Roses by the Dozen.
It all begins with a slide.

Starting with this color slide of "Heavenly Rose,"
12 Polaroids are created
using a Daylab Slide unit.
Then
the emulsions are
removed under water
(no photos of this).

The emulsions are carefully arranged onto this
sheet of glass while they're wet, and air bubbles
are removed. (The
yellow you see is just a towel).

Clear plastic framing spacers are placed just
under the edges of the glass so the delicate emulsions
do not touch anything.
A hand-torn sheet of handmade
petal paper is placed under the glass.

The glass is carefully cleaned around each
emulsion, then the finished piece is framed.

This close up shows the variety of
wrinkles and
the uniqueness of each
emulsion, as they seem to
"float"
on the glass.
